A Brief Background of the Digital World

In the late 1980s, digital communications and networks were still in their infancy. And the challenge of implementing a new system often went beyond choosing hardware, software, training and support.

Several network topologies were available—each with unique hardware, interconnecting methods, cabling and connectivity requirements. But few standard installation practices existed.

As a result, end users and equipment providers were often responsible for custom designing and then managing installation of the facilities to support their new systems. Many times with unsatisfactory results. It was complicated and unwieldy.

This created a need for a reliable designer/installer who held both the knowledge and experience to delivery turn-key installation.

Seacom’s Entry into the Marketplace

Seacom began with a simple approach: know the technology, listen to the client, deliver a system that meets the clients’ needs, and do it all with a custom service philosophy of “total customer satisfaction.”

That simple approach continues to this day and has guided Seacom’s growth from a simple cabling company to a full-service communications contractor. We now provide Telephone, Audio Visual, Security, and Wireless systems in addition to our traditional Cabling and Electrical services.

Design

Our dedicated staff can design, estimate, build, modify, and repair cabling systems for customers of any size.

Seacom’s in-house computer-aided design (CAD) department creates complete and detailed as-built drawings of each installation in both electronic and hard copy formats. These drawings include equipment closets, rack and hardware layouts, cable paths, termination locations and identification numbers for every installation.

All drawings are stores electronically in both DWG and PDF formats, and linked to our work order system where they are easily retrieved to record adds, moves and changes. Clients and easily access their latest drawings and other pertinent documents, and at the completion of each job, each client receives a complete set of their drawings for their own records.

We are proud to have two staff members holding the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) designation. The Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) certifies these communications cabling system professional designers as members who have achieved the highest level of design expertise certification.

Service

At Seacom, we maintain our own fleet of service vehicles and offer after-hours emergency assistance to our customers in order to respond quickly to any situation. Our technicians are manufacturer-trained in installation and repair and can handle any job with the professionalism our clients demand. Our goal is to keep our clients’ communications up and running at all times.
